100-70-03 ductile iron castings (ASTM A536) — 100 ksi tensile, 70 ksi yield, 3% elongation. Poured in our Southern Kansas foundry with a 10-12 week lead time after pattern is received.
What Is 100-70-03 Ductile Iron?
100-70-03 is a pearlitic, high-strength grade of ductile iron defined by ASTM A536. The “100-70-03” naming convention is standard across the industry: 100 ksi minimum tensile strength, 70 ksi minimum yield strength, 3% minimum elongation. 100-70-03 is the highest-strength common A536 grade — designed for parts that prioritize load capacity and wear resistance over impact toughness.
100-70-03 Mechanical Properties
- Tensile strength: 100 ksi minimum
- Yield strength: 70 ksi minimum
- Elongation: 3% minimum
- Brinell hardness: typically 217-302 HB
- Microstructure: nodular graphite in a ferritic / pearlitic matrix per ASTM A536
- Standard: ASTM A536
Common Applications for 100-70-03 Ductile Iron Castings
- High-load structural components
- Industrial machinery parts
- Heavy-duty wear-resistant components
- Parts where strength dominates over toughness
- Components that benefit from heat treatment for additional hardness
Why Manufacturers Choose Kansas Castings for 100-70-03
- ASTM A536 compliant — every 100-70-03 casting meets the standard, with material certifications and test reports available on request.
- Up to 150 lbs per part — no minimum casting weight; ideal for smaller, repeat-volume parts.
- 10-12 week lead time after pattern is received, with consistent on-spec castings for the life of the program.
- In-house machining — milling, turning, and precision finishing on ductile iron parts.
- Made in the USA — family-run foundry in Belle Plaine, Kansas since 1993, shipped nationwide.
Other ASTM A536 Grades We Pour
- 65-45-12 ductile iron — best ductility and machinability
- 80-55-06 ductile iron — balanced strength and durability
- 100-70-03 ductile iron — maximum strength, lowest ductility
